Wikipedia - French Basketball Cup

The French Basketball Cup, or French Federation Basketball Cup, (French: Coupe de France de Basket) is the annual national basketball federation cup competition of France. It is organized by the French Basketball Federation. It is also known as the Trophée Robert Busnel (Robert Busnel Trophy), named after the late basketball player Robert Busnel, who died in 1991.

A total of 54 amateur and professional teams from France, participate in the cup competition.

History

*From 1971 to 1995, the French Cup was not contested by professional clubs.
Cupa Franței la baschet (franceză: Coupe de France de basketball) este o competiție anuală de baschet organizată în Franța, începând din 1953. Este deschisă tuturor cluburilor franceze, nu doar celor din prima divizie LNB Pro A, iar câștigătoarea se califică pentru Cupa Europei FIBA.

Turneul se desfășoară în format cu eliminare directă, cu o singură manșă, începând din septembrie și terminându-se cu Final Four în aprilie. Echipele din LNB Pro A intră în competiție în fazele superioare, în timp ce echipele din diviziile inferioare încep din tururile preliminare.

Cupa Franței este unul dintre cele mai prestigioase trofee de baschet din Franța și a fost câștigat de unele dintre cele mai mari cluburi ale țării, precum Limoges CSP, Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez și ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne.
